☀️ SEA DAYS: Fun, Sun & Everything in Between

Updated: 2 days ago

Sea days are a great opportunity to enjoy everything the ship has to offer—from relaxing moments to nonstop activities, it’s your time to do as much or as little as you want. 🙌

Think about it—no alarms, no rushing off the ship, just pure vacation mode. ☀️

Here are a few ways to make the most of your sea days:

🛏️ START SLOW

Sleep in, order room service, and enjoy coffee on your balcony. This is where having a few of your own coffee add-ins or travel mugs can seriously upgrade your morning routine without paying extra onboard. ☕️ Find my favorite cruise coffee picks HERE! 👉 https://joylink.io/sunpackedsuitcase/xKuST7u

🍳 SEA DAY BRUNCH (WE NEVER MISS THIS!)

One of the best things to do on a sea day is brunch in the main dining room—it’s included and a total upgrade from the buffet. Think made-to-order eggs, steak & eggs, burgers, French toast, and even desserts. It’s basically a mix of breakfast + lunch, served late morning so you can sleep in and still enjoy a sit-down meal.

Bonus Tip: it’s popular, so expect a wait or check in early!

👙☀️ POOL & HOT TUB TIME

Sea days are all about soaking up the sun, hopping in the pool, or relaxing in the hot tubs. Head up when you’re ready to hang out and settle in for a few hours of doing absolutely nothing (or everything 😄). A comfy swimsuit, easy cover-up, and sandals make it simple to go from lounger to lunch to back again and don't forget your towel bands or clips to hold your towel in place!

🍰 AFTERNOON TEA (HIDDEN GEM!)

On many ships, you can enjoy a complimentary afternoon tea in the main dining room on sea days—usually around 3:00 PM. Think tea, small sandwiches, and little desserts in a quieter, more relaxed setting. It’s a nice break from the crowds and something a lot of people miss!

🍽️ SKIP THE BUFFET (LITTLE‑KNOWN TIP 👀)

Did you know there are specialty dining spots that sometimes offer included lunch options on many Carnival ships? These are part of your cruise fare — no extra charge.

Specialty Restaurants with Included Lunch Options:

🍝 Captain’s Pasta Bar / Cucina del Capitano

🥢 JiJi Asian Kitchen or ChiBang!

🍜 Mongolian Wok

🔥 Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse

These “included lunch” venues usually have a simpler menu than dinner, but they’re a great way to enjoy variety without spending extra.

📖 RELAX YOUR WAY

Sea days are perfect for catching up on reading, podcasts, or just unwinding and recharging. Make sure to download your favorite books or audiobooks to your Kindle or device before you sail—Wi-Fi can be slow or limited at sea. A good pair of headphones makes it easy to tune out distractions and fully enjoy your time. Kindle Unlimited makes it easy to have plenty to read while you unplug at sea—learn more HERE!(ad) 👉 https://joylink.io/sunpackedsuitcase/txS3AHP

🎲 BRING THE FUN WITH YOU

Travel-size games are SO underrated on a cruise—perfect for deck time, the lounge, or even your cabin balcony. Think card games, magnetic board games, or quick party games you can toss in your bag. Great for couples, families, or new cruise friends! Find some of my favorites HERE!(ad) 👉 https://joylink.io/sunpackedsuitcase/h8vGUSU

🍹 PACE YOURSELF

Drinks, snacks, trivia, live music… it’s easy to do it ALL. Stay hydrated and don’t forget sunscreen—yes, even at sea!

🍸 BAR HOPPING

Sea days are perfect for trying something new—why not bar hop around the ship? If you have a drink package, try a different cocktail or mocktail at each bar. From poolside lounges to specialty bars, it’s a fun way to explore and find your new favorite drink spot!

🎭 TRY SOMETHING NEW

This is when the ship really comes alive—cooking demos, games, shows, spa specials. Pro tip: check the daily schedule the night before and plan ahead so you don’t miss the good stuff.

WIND DOWN FOR THE EVENING

Sea day nights tend to be the most fun—theme parties, shows, and maybe even Elegant Night. Picking your outfit ahead of time (and keeping a wrinkle-release spray handy) makes getting ready quick and easy.

Sea days are what you make them—relaxing, fun, productive… or all three.
