If you’re new to cruising, you may have heard about Elegant Night and wondered what it’s all about. It’s a special evening where guests can dress up a little more than usual 👗 and enjoy a festive night on the ship. Some go all out with glamorous outfits, while others keep it simple but polished. Either way, it’s a fun night to celebrate, take photos 📸, and make memories on board!

It’s also a great night for photos around the ship. You’ll find professional photographers set up in different spots, and the dining room menu may include a few special dishes like lobster or prime rib 🦞🥩.

HOW MANY ELEGANT NIGHTS THERE ARE?
The number depends on the length of the cruise:
➤ 3–5 night cruises: 1 Elegant Night
➤ 6–7 night cruises: 2 Elegant Nights
➤ 8+ nights: 2–3 Elegant Nights
They’re often scheduled on sea days when the ship isn’t in port.
CRUISE LINES CALL IT DIFFERENT THINGS:
➤ Carnival: Elegant Night
➤ Royal Caribbean: Formal Night or Dress Your Best
➤ Norwegian: Dress Up or Not Night
➤ Princess / Celebrity: Formal Night
The idea is basically the same — a dressier evening in the main dining room.
PARTICIPATION IS OPTIONAL
You don’t have to dress up to enjoy Elegant Night or dine in the main dining room 🎉. You can sit with the same table-mates who are dressed in formal attire while wearing something more casual if that’s your style. It’s all about enjoying the evening your way!
✨ Cruise tip: If you do plan to participate, pack one outfit that makes you feel a little extra ✨. It’s a fun excuse to dress up and capture a great vacation photo 📷.
