Looking for a great place to eat near Port Canaveral? Whether you’re arriving the day before your cruise, looking for breakfast before heading to the terminal, or have some time to explore after getting off the ship, there are plenty of good places to eat without going far.

And it’s definitely not all seafood. You’ll find waterfront restaurants where you can watch the cruise ships come and go, local breakfast spots, pizza and Italian food, Cuban favorites, sushi, sweet treats, and a few places you might completely miss if you only search for restaurants right at the cruise terminals.

As a Port Canaveral local, I think the best way to choose is by deciding what kind of meal you’re looking for. So instead of giving you one giant list, I’ve broken this guide down into waterfront dining, local seafood, breakfast spots, alternatives to seafood, hotels with on-site dining, and a few Cocoa Beach favorites worth the short drive.

🌴 Waterfront Dining at The Cove at Port Canaveral

If you want that “vacation starts now” feeling before you even step onto the ship, start at The Cove at Port Canaveral.

Several restaurants sit along the waterfront here, making it an easy place to combine dinner with views of the port. Depending on when you visit, you may see fishing boats coming and going or catch one of the cruise ships heading out to sea.

Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar

500 Glen Cheek Drive, Cape Canaveral

Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar is one of the classic Port Canaveral choices for seafood, tropical drinks and casual waterfront dining. It also opens early for breakfast, so it can work just as well on embarkation morning as it does for dinner the night before.

Good pick for: Waterfront dining, breakfast and kicking off vacation by the water.

Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill

Rusty's Seafood & Oyster Bar has the casual dockside feel you’d expect from a Florida seafood restaurant. If oysters and seafood are what you have in mind for your first vacation meal, this is one to consider.

Seafood Atlantic

Seafood Atlantic is a little different from the larger waterfront restaurants around it. It combines a seafood market with a casual restaurant and is closely connected to Port Canaveral’s commercial fishing industry. If the seafood itself matters more to you than having a big tiki-bar atmosphere, I wouldn’t overlook this one.

Good pick for: Fresh seafood and a more local Port Canaveral experience.

Rising Tide Tap & Table

Rising Tide Tap & Table is a good choice when everyone in your group isn’t necessarily craving seafood. The menu has plenty of variety, and there’s a strong craft-beer selection too.

Good pick for: Craft beer and groups with different tastes.

Gator’s Portside

Gator's Portside is the casual sports-bar option at the port. Think wings, burgers, drinks and plenty of TVs rather than a traditional seafood dinner.

Ludz Foodie Bar & Grill / Mattie's Bakery adds something a little different to the Cove mix with comfort food on the savory side and baked treats when you’re ready for something sweet.

You certainly won’t have trouble finding seafood around Port Canaveral, but there are a couple of places I’d pay particular attention to if fresh local seafood is what you’re really after.

Seafood Atlantic deserves another mention because of its combination of seafood market, restaurant and connection to the local commercial fishing industry.

I’d also put Wild Ocean Market on your radar. Rather than another large waterfront bar and grill, Wild Ocean is a seafood market where fresh seafood is the focus.

And if you want the waterfront atmosphere along with your seafood, Grills, Fishlips and Rusty’s are all right at The Cove.

🍳 Breakfast Before Your Cruise

Dinner the night before gets most of the attention, but what about embarkation morning?

If your hotel breakfast isn’t calling your name—or you have enough time for a sit-down breakfast before heading to the terminal—Cape Canaveral has several local options.

Southern Charm Cafe

8501 Astronaut Boulevard, Cape Canaveral

Southern Charm Cafe is a locally owned breakfast and lunch restaurant serving Southern comfort food. This is the kind of place to consider when you want a hearty breakfast rather than grabbing something quickly in the hotel lobby.

Good pick for: A sit-down Southern-style breakfast before embarkation.

Sunrise Diner at the Moon Hut

7802 Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway, Cape Canaveral

Sunrise Diner at the Moon Hut is another early-morning option with an old-school diner feel. Current hours have it opening at 6 a.m., which can be especially handy for early risers with plenty of time before heading to the ship.

Good pick for: An early, casual breakfast.

Banana Winds Bites & Grind

Banana Winds Bites & Grind is a small Cape Canaveral bistro that’s easy to miss if you’re only searching around the cruise terminals. Its current schedule is limited to weekday breakfast and lunch, so this is definitely one to check before making plans.

You’re about to spend several days on a cruise—there will be plenty of opportunities for seafood later.

If pizza, pasta, Cuban food, sushi or something completely different sounds better the night before, you have plenty of choices around Cape Canaveral.

Vacation is as good an excuse as any for ice cream.

Twistee Treat Cape Canaveral is pretty hard to miss—the building itself looks like a giant ice cream cone. It’s an easy stop for soft serve, sundaes and shakes.

I’d also keep Fortuna Bakery & Coffee - Cape Canaveral in mind if you’d rather have coffee and something from the bakery.

🏨 Don’t Want to Leave the Hotel?

After a flight or long drive into the area, sometimes the last thing you want to do is check into your hotel, unpack and immediately head back out looking for dinner.

Several popular pre-cruise hotels near Port Canaveral make it possible to eat or grab a drink without leaving the property.

Radisson Resort at the Port

Radisson Resort at the Port has on-site dining, which makes it convenient when you simply want to settle in for the evening rather than head back out.

Good pick for: A relaxed first night close to the port.

Hilton Garden Inn Cape Canaveral near Cocoa Beach

Hilton Garden Inn Cape Canaveral near Cocoa Beach has J. Bird’s Island Eatery right on property. Hilton describes the menu as tropical comfort with a Florida twist, with breakfast, handhelds and casual coastal dinner choices.

Good pick for: A pre-cruise hotel with a full restaurant on property.

Hyatt Place Cape Canaveral

Hyatt Place Cape Canaveral gives you several options without leaving the hotel. The Placery serves casual food in the lobby bar, breakfast is included for hotel guests, and Altitude360 Sky Bar & Observation Deck on the seventh floor serves drinks and savory bites with 360-degree views.

🌊 Worth the Short Drive to Cocoa Beach

If you’re staying an extra night, have your own car or don’t mind grabbing a ride, heading south into Cocoa Beach opens up even more choices.

I wouldn’t try to list every good Cocoa Beach restaurant here—that could easily be a guide of its own. These are a few places worth knowing about when you want something different from what’s immediately around Port Canaveral.

The Tiny Turtle

The Tiny Turtle serves Caribbean food in downtown Cocoa Beach and is a nice change from the seafood restaurants and sports bars closer to the port.

Good pick for: Caribbean flavors and a casual local meal.

4th Street Fillin Station

4th Street Fillin Station gets points for the setting alone—it occupies a converted filling station. Add a varied menu and some seriously fun desserts, and it makes for something a little different.

Jazzy’s Mainely Lobster

Jazzy's Mainely Lobster is one to know about when lobster is specifically what you’re craving.

🌴 Make an Outing of It at the Cocoa Beach Pier

If you have a little extra time, I think the Cocoa Beach Pier deserves its own mention because you aren’t just driving over for a meal.

The historic pier stretches out over the Atlantic at 401 Meade Avenue, so you can combine food or drinks with a walk on the pier and some time at the beach.

Current dining options include Pier 62 Oceanfront Restaurant & Bar, which the pier says is introducing a menu with seafood, grilled dishes and sushi; The Boardwalk Bar for casual food and cocktails; Sea Dogs for quick bites; and Rikki Tiki Tavern at the end of the pier. There’s also shaved ice if you're looking for something sweet.

Rikki Tiki Tavern is especially fun for the location. It sits at the end of the 800-foot pier directly over the ocean, with open-air seating, drinks, limited food service and wide-open views of the Space Coast.

Good pick for: Ocean views, drinks, a casual meal and turning lunch into a little Cocoa Beach outing.

🛳️ So...Where Should You Eat?

With so many choices around Port Canaveral, I wouldn’t worry too much about finding the one restaurant someone claims is the “best.” Think about what you want out of the meal.

Want waterfront views and the full Port Canaveral atmosphere? Start at The Cove.

Want fresh seafood? Take a closer look at Seafood Atlantic or Wild Ocean Market.

Need breakfast before boarding? Southern Charm Cafe, Sunrise Diner at the Moon Hut or Grills are good places to start.

Not in the mood for seafood? Try Vargas Cafe, Zarrella’s, Thai Thai III or Sassy Spoon.

Too tired to leave the hotel? Check your hotel’s dining options first. You may be able to have dinner, grab a drink and eat breakfast the next morning without getting back in the car.

And if you have a little more time to explore, head into Cocoa Beach for a meal—or make an afternoon of it with food, drinks and ocean views at the Cocoa Beach Pier.

Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach restaurants can get busy, particularly on weekends and when several ships are in port. If there’s somewhere you really want to eat, check the restaurant’s current hours, menu and reservation or waitlist options before heading over.
