RelaxAway Half Moon Cay Tram Stops: What’s at Every Stop?

If you’ve been to Half Moon Cay before, getting around the island is going to look a little different now.

As part of the expansion of RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Carnival added a new pier, more beachfront, new food and drink venues, the scenic Papaya Pathway and a tram system to help guests get around the destination.

And the tram stops have some very appropriate island names: Coconut, Mango, Lime, Pineapple, Guava and Avocado.

There are six numbered tram stops, starting at the Arrival Plaza near the new pier. Each stop provides access to a different area, with various restaurants, bars, beach rentals, cabanas, daybeds and other amenities nearby.

So, which stop should you get off at?

Here’s what you’ll find at every RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay tram stop.

How Many Tram Stops Are at Half Moon Cay?

There are six numbered tram stops:

1. Arrival Plaza / Coconut Line Tram Station

2. Mango Tram Stop

3. Lime Tram Stop

4. Pineapple Tram Stop

5. Guava Tram Stop

6. Avocado Tram Stop

One important thing to understand is that these aren't the only areas of Half Moon Cay.

Carnival's current map also shows a separate Water Shuttle Arrival area with many of the familiar Half Moon Cay facilities, including Island Market Grill, Lobster Shack, the Beach Club, Rum Runners Bar, I Wish I Could Stay Here Forever Bar, On the Rocks Bar, Bell Bar, the Straw Market, villas and the Private Oasis.

So when I say Avocado is the last stop, I mean it's Stop #6 on this numbered tram route, not that it's the end of everything there is to see at Half Moon Cay.

Stop #1: Arrival Plaza / 🥥 Coconut Line Tram Station

Best for: Getting oriented, shopping, excursions and catching the tram

If your Carnival ship docks at the new pier, this is where your day at RelaxAway really begins.

Carnival says it's approximately a five-minute walk from a ship docked at the pier to the Arrival Plaza.

At the Coconut Line Tram Station you'll find:

• Guest Services & Shore Excursions Desk

• Gift Shop

• Artisan Market

• Tram Station

• Restrooms

• Lockers

• Access back toward the pier

This is primarily your arrival and transportation hub rather than somewhere I'd plan to spend my beach day. It's also where you can hop aboard the tram and start making your way toward the beach areas.

Walking time to Mango: Approximately 15 minutes according to the posted tram-stop sign.

One important exception: not every Carnival visit necessarily uses the pier. Carnival says some sailings may still anchor offshore and bring guests ashore by water shuttle. Those guests arrive at the separate Water Shuttle Arrival area shown on Carnival's destination map.

Stop #2: 🥭 Mango Tram Stop

Best for: Beach time with complimentary lunch nearby

Mango is the first numbered beach stop after leaving the Arrival Plaza.

Nearby you'll find:

• Orchid Beach Grill & Bar

• Daybeds

• Beach rentals

• Restrooms

• Lockers

The big advantage of getting off at Mango is Orchid Beach Grill & Bar.

Carnival lists new complimentary lunch options as part of the expanded destination, so Mango is worth considering if you want to establish your beach headquarters somewhere convenient for lunch. Spend the morning on the beach, grab lunch nearby and continue your day without having to travel very far.

Walking time from Coconut: Approximately 15 minutes.

Stop #3: 🍋‍🟩 Lime Tram Stop

Best for: Beach time with a tiki bar nearby

Next comes Lime.

Nearby you'll find:

• Lil' Tiki Bar

• Cabanas

• Gift Shop

• Beach rentals

• Restrooms

• Lockers

If your Half Moon Cay plans involve some variation of beach chair + turquoise water + tropical drink, Lime makes a pretty compelling argument. Lil' Tiki Bar is located nearby, and you also have beach rentals, cabanas and a gift shop in this area.

Walking time from Mango: Approximately 15 minutes.

Stop #4: 🍍 Pineapple Tram Stop

Best for: A central location between several stops

Pineapple is Stop #4.

Nearby you'll find:

• Stay Awhile Beach Bar

• Cabanas and daybeds

• Beach rentals

• Restrooms

• Lockers

You'll sometimes see the venue here called Stay Awhile Beach Shack in Carnival materials. However, Carnival's current destination map and the physical tram sign both identify it as Stay Awhile Beach Bar, so that's the name I'm using here.

Pineapple also has one of the shortest walks between neighboring stops.

Lime is only about a five-minute walk away according to the posted sign, while Guava is approximately 10 minutes in the other direction. That makes Pineapple an interesting location if you want to explore several areas on foot without committing to another tram ride every time you move.

Walking time from Lime: Approximately 5 minutes.

Stop #5: 🍐 Guava Tram Stop

Best for: Food and lots of amenities nearby

Guava has quite a bit packed around one stop.

Nearby you'll find:

• Hibiscus Beach Grill & Bar

• Daybeds

• Gift Shop

• Beach rentals

• Restrooms

• Lockers

• First Aid Station

Like Mango, Guava gives you convenient access to one of the new beach grill areas.

You'll also have a gift shop, rentals and the First Aid Station nearby, making this a useful stop to know even if you don't spend your entire beach day here.

Walking time from Pineapple: Approximately 10 minutes.

Stop #6: 🥑 Avocado Tram Stop

Best for: Riding to the last numbered tram stop

Stay aboard until the end of the numbered route and you'll reach Avocado.

Nearby you'll find:

• Luna Tide Beach Bar

• Cabanas and daybeds

• Beach rentals

• Restrooms

• Lockers

This could be a good choice if your strategy is to ride farther along the route first and then explore your way back. And with Luna Tide Beach Bar nearby, you won't have to venture far when it's time for a cold drink.

Walking time from Guava: Approximately 15 minutes.

Again, Avocado being Stop #6 doesn't mean it's the end of Half Moon Cay. Carnival's destination map also shows the separate Water Shuttle Arrival area and its facilities beyond the numbered stops.

How Long Does It Take to Walk Between the Half Moon Cay Tram Stops?

Here's where the physical sign at Half Moon Cay is especially helpful.

The posted walking estimates are:

• Coconut to Mango: 15 minutes

• Mango to Lime: 15 minutes

• Lime to Pineapple: 5 minutes

• Pineapple to Guava: 10 minutes

• Guava to Avocado: 15 minutes

Add those together and you're looking at approximately 60 minutes of walking from Coconut to Avocado if you walked the entire numbered route. That's before stopping for pictures, wandering onto the beach or discovering that Bahamian sunshine has suddenly made the tram look like the greatest transportation invention since the cruise ship.

Carnival generally tells guests to expect roughly 10 to 15 minutes of walking between tram stations at a moderate pace, while the on-island signage provides the more specific estimates above.

Can You Walk Instead of Taking the Tram?

Yes. Carnival added the Papaya Pathway, a scenic walking route for guests who prefer exploring on foot.

You don't necessarily have to choose between walking and riding the tram for your entire day, either.

I'd probably use a combination of both.

For example, Lime and Pineapple are only about five minutes apart according to the sign, so walking between those two makes sense for many people. Mango to Lime or Guava to Avocado are longer 15-minute stretches where the tram may be more appealing.

Is the Half Moon Cay Tram Free?

Yes. The destination tram service is complimentary.

You don't need to reserve a seat in advance, so you can use the tram to move around during your day rather than treating it as transportation you have to schedule.

Carnival says trams arrive every few minutes, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Carnival also says designated accessible trams operate in regular rotation throughout the destination.

Which Half Moon Cay Tram Stop Is Best?

There isn't one stop that's automatically best for everyone. It depends on what you want close to your beach spot.

🥭 🍐 If having lunch nearby is important: Take a look at Mango or Guava, where Orchid Beach Grill & Bar and Hibiscus Beach Grill & Bar are located.

🍋‍🟩🥑 If you want a bar nearby: Lime has Lil' Tiki Bar, Pineapple has Stay Awhile Beach Bar and Avocado has Luna Tide Beach Bar.

🍐 If you want several amenities nearby: Guava has Hibiscus Beach Grill & Bar, beach rentals, a gift shop, restrooms, lockers and the First Aid Station.

🥑 If you want to ride to the last numbered stop: Stay aboard until Avocado.

🥥 If you need Guest Services, Shore Excursions or the Artisan Market: Head to Coconut / Arrival Plaza.

My Tip Before You Pick a Stop

Don't automatically jump off the tram at the first beach stop just because you see white sand and ridiculously gorgeous blue water.

Before your cruise, take a look at the map and think about what you want nearby.

If easy access to lunch matters, Mango or Guava may make sense. If you want a bar nearby, Lime, Pineapple or Avocado could be a better fit. And if you want to see more of the new area, you can always ride farther down the route and explore your way back.

You also don't have to choose one tram stop and stay there all day. That's really the beauty of the new setup. Take the tram to one area, spend some time on the beach, walk to a neighboring stop, grab lunch somewhere else and hop aboard the tram when your flip-flops finally file a formal complaint.

With six numbered stops stretching from Coconut to Avocado, the new tram system gives you a much easier way to explore RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay instead of automatically settling into the first patch of sand you find.
