If you're flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO) and heading straight to Port Canaveral for your cruise, here's a tip from a local that could make your embarkation day a little easier.

If you're taking an Uber, Lyft, shuttle, or rental car from MCO, consider making a quick stop at the RaceTrac located at 8899 Astronaut Blvd in Cape Canaveral before heading to the port. It's one of the last convenient places to pick up cruise-line-approved soda or wine before boarding.
Many cruisers don't realize there are few convenient options for picking up these items once they're close to the cruise terminals.
While RaceTrac is primarily a gas station and convenience store, it's one of the most convenient places near the port to pick up:
Canned soda
Wine (within your cruise line's allowance)
Last-minute snacks and drinks
Best of all, it's located just over a mile from the cruise terminals, making it an easy stop before embarkation.
Arriving a Day Early?
If you're arriving a day early, the RaceTrac is within walking distance of several popular Port Canaveral hotels, making it easy to pick up your cruise-line-approved soda or wine before heading to the terminal the next day.
Walkable without crossing busy A1A (Astronaut Boulevard):
Walkable, but you'll need to cross busy A1A:
Dining Within Walking Distance
Another advantage of staying in this hotel area before your cruise is the convenience. You can walk to nearby dining options without needing to drive anywhere. Burger King and Zarrella's Italian & Wood Fired Pizza are both within walking distance of the nearby hotels. You'll also find Flamingo's Restaurant at Radisson Resort at the Port and J. Bird's Island Eatery at Hilton Garden Inn.
One of the reasons I recommend this area for a pre-cruise stay is the convenience. You can check into your hotel, grab dinner, pick up your cruise-line-approved soda or wine, and have everything ready to go before embarkation day.
As always, check your cruise line's current beverage policy before purchasing, as allowances and restrictions vary by cruise line.
