If youāre in a forward cabin, you might hear loud, repetitive thuds at night ā thatās a bow slam! Basically, the front of the ship hits waves over and over, like bowling balls bouncing off your cabin wall.

HEREāS WHATāS HAPPENING:
⨠The front of the ship slices through the waves, and when it lifts and drops repeatedly, it creates a rhythmic pounding sound ā kind of like bowling balls hitting your cabin wall.
⨠Nighttime makes it seem louder, since the ship and ocean are quieter, and your cabin echoes the bangs.
⨠Rough seas, ship speed, and bow design all affect how noticeable it is.
The first time we heard it, it kept us up ALL NIGHT for two days. By the time we got to San Juan, we made a beeline to Walgreens just to grab sleeping pills so we could get some sleep!
SLEEP-SAVING TIPS:
⤠Book midship cabins on lower decks
⤠Keep balcony doors/windows closed
⤠Play white noise or soft music
⤠Use pillows/blankets against walls
Itās totally normal ā your ship is just ābowling with the waves.ā šš³ But wow⦠it can make sleeping a challenge!
